ABU DHABI – Passport processing services at the Embassy of Pakistan in the UAE have been temporarily suspended, the mission confirmed on Wednesday.
The announcement cited ongoing technical and maintenance issues affecting operations at the embassy premises. The move has prompted immediate guidance for Pakistani nationals across the UAE seeking passport-related services.
The embassy, located in Abu Dhabi, issued the update through its official communication channels, stating that all in-person passport processing has been halted until further notice. No timeline for the resumption of services has been specified, indicating that the disruption remains open-ended for now.
What applicants should know
According to the embassy, the suspension is directly linked to technical faults and routine maintenance requirements, though no further operational details were disclosed. The advisory urged members of the Pakistani community in the UAE to refrain from visiting the embassy for passport-related matters during this period.
Instead, applicants have been encouraged to utilise the online passport application system where possible. This digital alternative allows users to initiate or renew passport applications remotely, reducing the need for physical visits to the embassy during the disruption. Those unable to access online services have been advised to wait for further instructions.
The embassy reassured the community that updates would be issued promptly once the system is restored. “The community will be informed immediately on resumption of the service,” the mission stated, underscoring its commitment to keeping applicants informed.
Separately, the embassy had earlier confirmed a scheduled closure in observance of Labour Day. The mission will remain closed on Friday, May 1, 2026, and is set to reopen on Monday, May 4, 2026. This closure is part of the regular holiday calendar and is not directly linked to the ongoing technical issues.
